Is anyone out there who can advise me on a particular case of what is like a disociative identity disorder. Now, I believe it's a kind of self-induced trance and I was wondering if any of you has any advice or experience in how to learn this patient to 'trigger' her normal-mode more frequently. I'm realy looking forward to your replys. Pascal Romkens
She's a patient, pregnant at the moment and is hospitalized in a psychiatry ward. I'm working there as a clinical psychologist/psychotherapist.
Her current status is psychotic. Though she's got short periods of normal-ness. She's adequate, insightfull and capabel of a normal conversation at those moments.
She's on anti-psychotic medication. But it doesn't do that much. Increasing the dosage isn't possible because of her pregnancy.
These normal moments come as quick as they go, usualy lasting 10 to 15 minutes. We didn't find any concrete discriminative stimulus for them.
