Thanks for all your useful comments. I shall take them all into consideration. As regards the Jay Halye book Ive had great difficulties finding a copy even using interlibrary loan methods here in Germany. Can anybody help me in finding a copy or familiarising myself with the text? In addition, I know of some of Ericksons work with eating disorders, but the case referred to in Gordon's book is not familiar. Can someone suggest the techniques that Erickson may have used in dealing with adolescent anorexia?
I find huge differences in the treatment methods of behavioural therapists, analysts and more gestalt-oriented colleagues. I wonder how parents react when confronted with seeking professional help in which they are inundated with an array of in part conflicting theories and methods for parental or teacher support. Any comments would be appreciated. here in Germany we have witnessed huge increases in the incidence of female adolescent eating disorders over the last decade. Is this true for other nations?
