This seems true to me. I think being known cuts through isolation. If there were a purpose for love, I think cutting through painful isolation is a good one. There are more purposes, of course. Some might say coming to grips with isolation is maturity. Partially true, but being so comfortable with your own true nature so as to give unconditionally allows others to know you, and to love you.
