As always, I am intrigued by fellow clinicians identification of what love is. With the population I have chosen to serve, I usually refer to Erickson's book, A Path With a Heart, a metaphoric title and useful book I like to meditate on. I find that it is their heart they are unwilling to share, what it is that makes them vulnerable. And, I have found that when they willingly hand their heart over to me, the interaction of me receiving their heart, holding, and returning it back soothed, I have just experienced the act of loving.
