I do not know of another single phrase for human behavior theory, unless you're thinking of a perspective called behaviorism. There are a number of theories of human behavior. At the most basic level of analysis, they concern biological, psychological and environmental factors. Since this web site is concerned with Milton Erickson, we should pause for a moment to remember that his approach to therapy was not limited to any one of these theoretical approaches. Instead, his practice was to create a new therapy for each patient. If you are interested, here are a few authors in each sub-category to help you get started in specifying what information you need or in gaining a broader perspective of human behavior theories: Biological - Charles Darwin; EO Wilson (sociobiology - controversial) Psychological Environmental By definition, I do not consider NLP to be a theory of human behavior, as some have responded. It is closer to a model of communication glued together by cognitive and behavioral theories. Hope this helps.
Cognitive - Aaron Beck, Albert Elllis
Pschodynamic - Sigmund Freud
Humanistic - Carl Rogers, Fritz Perls
Sociocultural - (check classic and modern social theorists like August Comte, Emile Durkheim, Max Weber)
Behavioral - John Watson, B.F. Skinner
