The American Red Cross in Greater New York providing disaster news, health & safety education, CPR training, volunteer opportunities, and online donations has a web page located here:
http://www.nyredcross.org/.
The very first link on the page's center-right location is the button for on line contributions.
If you intend to contact them regarding volunteering your help and services for the NYC disaster relief at this time, this is their official response (for now):
"Thank you for your concern during this time of terrible crisis. Due to the overwhelming response by the caring citizens of this city, The Volunteer Resource Department of The American Red Cross in Greater New York is currently at full staff and does not require any more human resource at this time." But the quickly add this reminder, "However, disaster relief is a long and arduous task and we may need your help in the coming days. "
If you want to be placed on a list for possible future volunteering (naturally this current volunteer-pool will eventually thin) go to the web site and locate and complete the online "Volunteer Application Form" (It is in MS Word Document format on their web site). Then, E-mail it to webmaster@arcgny.org. They will keep your application on file and contact you if they need your assistance.
