When my daughter was 5 she was very scared of dogs. We had to go on a long drive one day so I started to tell her a story about another dad and his daughter going for a drive as she listened to him tell her a story about dogs. As she listened very closely he told her about a 5 year old girl who was really scared of dogs, especially big ones. He said sometimes it's good to to be scared of big ones but sometimes dogs just want to play and they can even be scared of you. And as her dad kept talking she kept listening, that's right. The next day I was walking with my daughter and she spotted 3 small dogs. She asked me if it was OK to go over to them and I agreed. She then asked me if she could pet them and went over and petted one. The fear at least with small and medium size dogs was gone. Thanks, Sheldon.
