I've noticed a great deal of crossover between Dr. Erickson's intimate details of a persons personal realiites and phenomenology which is basically an investigation into these inner structures. Did he ever refer to the cultural background of individuals with this regard? e.g.- most europeans feel that light "comes to them" when they see an object while native americans feel that their eyesight "goes out" to the object when they see it. A very different personal structure. I bring this point up because trance inductions etc seem to rely heavily on a detailed focus on the inner realities of the individual (relying heavily on an inner confusion, and in order to be confused, the therapist must know what confuses a person based on an understand of their inner personal realities etc...) and I believe alot of that relies on detailed phenomenological understand of the individual in trance. Your thoughs please....
