You could define trance as a state of focused awareness, dissociation, modified intensity and altered responsiveness in a situation defined as hypnosis. Preconscious associations influence mind/boby interaction as do direct thoughts. It is not necessary to be in a formal trance to experience that effect. A problem is that there is no standard definition of hypnosis, but defining every indirect influence situation as hypnosis waters down the concept. Thanks for your post Jeff
