    mutism after meningitis
    Paul Kramm M.D. · 04/02/01 at 10:56 PM ET

I have a vibrant twenty some year old patient that is recovering from bona fide meningitis and has a purely expressive aphasia which is an even more disabling deficit to her than her right sided paralysis. Any thoughts as to an Ericksonian approach to facilitate her recovery? She clearly is able understand all that is said and is able to communicate her upbeat mood via her very emotive facial expressions as well as through a communication board.
