Dr. Paulsen Inobe, Thank you for your validating remarks. I thought I was the only one that thought this was a horror story. I am glad to know that this person was at least trained in EMDR. She did about eight or nine EMDR sessions with us in about three months. All of which were equally as traumatic, each session basically "forced" on us. We were taught really well not to stand up to authority figures, we tried to resist, but in the end, we always gave in. We always walked away "duely punished" for saying no, and feeling like it was our fault. (Ouch...this is just surfacing!) I am very thankful that I had experience with a good therapist prior to working with this one, otherwise I probably would not have continued my healing journey. She was kind enough to see me at a discounted rate, however, she didn't tell me that, that meant she got to take half of my therapy sessions talking about her own issues. Yes, you read correctly, she told me how much she looked forward to our sessions because I was so uplifting for her and so supportive of her. She would tell me what she discussed in her own therapy sessions, cry about her husband leaving her, ask me what she should do, etc. It took me over a year to get out of that situation! I was literally afraid that if I left, she would kill herself or something. I "owed" her over $500 when I quit working with her, and received one bill. I wrote on it, what my time and "services" were worth, and that we would call it even, so the amount due was zero. I never got another bill from her office! The scary thing is, is that a friend of mine sees another therapist in her office, and she is still there, five years later.
