I agree with what the doctor was saying. I am an aspiring author, and at the same time I am also the hardest critic (of my own work) that I know. Even when I feel stumped and out of ideas, or so far as wondering if I should just give up all together, EMDR has been a process that has helped to busy my mind and get me thinking again. Sometimes writers block feels like one thing, but it's really just your mind getting bored and not doing any work! I even go so far as to delve into totally unrealated topics (by that I mean unrealted to what I would like to write), and I find that this "venting" helps me through and through.
