I am a MSW therapist, survivor and I have DID. I took Level 1 training, here in Ontario for both personal and professional reasons. The trainers were very clear about what was considered basic EMDR applications and advanced applications. The trainers told us not to use EMDR on clients with DID or multi traumas until we have had Level 2 - where we would learn advanced techniques like one eyed and cognitive interlude. My concern is that my therapist, who encouraged me to take the training took Level 2 two months ago and he knew nothing of these advanced techniques. This is concerning because he is willing to apply EMDR in my situation- or at least he was until he learned that there are better techniques for someone with my specific brain "organization". I am wondering why the training is not more standardized. How is my therapist supposed to learn these applications when his Level 2 did not even mention them? Not even sure what my question is really. Michelle
