Hi! I agree support is needed. I've been undergoing EMDR treatment for a year now. I belong to one of the EMDR chat forums and it is helpful, but I would like to share something that has helped me even more. I felt a great need for a support group, but I live in a small town where they have no clue what EMDR is. So I asked my therapist if she knew of a client that was further along in this journey of healing who would be willing to be my e mail buddy.
I've had an e-mail buddy for 6 months now. She is much better than a forum. She listens to me, encourages me, and is not afraid to tell me what is what if I need that. I don't have to hope that someone will answer my post either. And I'm sure this won't always happen with a buddy, but we happen to have many similar experiences which gives her credibility and even more understanding of my journey. It is great to have a person to talk to inbetween appts.
