If I were writingmy 1995 article on EMDR and dissociative disorders again now it would be even more cautious. In upcoming publications I'm emphasizing containment and stabilization and a multiply phased process for the use ofEMDR with dissociative disorders. The short answer is, people shouldn't do EMDR on dissociative clients without already knowing how to treat dissociation. And even when there is a readiness for EMDR, the EMDR processing should only be bite size, not a full target.
