I may be inserting my comments out of context here, inasmuch I have not had the time to refer to this site which you speak of, so please forgive me if I am way off base. Online Narcissism is almost intrinsic to the online experience, depending on the paradigmatic view one adapots for narcissism. On one hand, there is almost an infantile like regression synonomous to an infant suckling on the breast, fingers in constant motion, fixated vacuous eyes, etc etc. There is also the behavioral manifestations of what could be unjustly judged as 'narcissim' as one tries to negotiate unfamiliar terrain and try to 'fit in' into an unfamiliar environment. There are MANY plausible explanations for seemingly narcissistic behaviors, yet, to render a judgement of 'narcissistic personality disorder' is perhaps a bit harsh. Indeed, such a diagnosis is often times difficult to make in a therapuetic setting, and like all diagnoses, they are to be made over time and against a preponderance of circumstantial evidence that give rise to consistent patterns of response that affirm such a diagnosis. To me, even the term "narcissistic personality disorder" is in itself very negating. One may have sustained certain narcissistic injuries and vulnerabilities that necessitated certain defenses to prevent an overload of suffering. These defenses may, in time, become apparent, because they manifest in a particular 'style'. It is indeed very sad, but the 'victim' did not ask to be injured thusly.
