The correct term for a digital person is a 'virtual' person. The person is not real, yet they are associated with the real. If you were to look at what Pierre Levy says about virtual and the theory behind this technology - the answer is very clear. So does that mean that if a distressed client is paying fifty bucks per 30 minutes of "On Line Chat Psychotherapy", that the therapist is a "Virtual Therapist" (not real)? And does it also mean that the therapy is "Virtual Therapy" (not real - or fake)? Sounds that way to me. With all this talk of digital persons, I think it's high time for shrinks to stop using the internet to sell psychotherapy. Stay in your offices and do it the ethical way. The internet and psychotherapy are like oil and vinegar.
