No doubt there is some fluidity in our identity, especially in our imaginings about our identity. On the other hand, when it comes right down to it, we each, individually, are who we are and do not change easily. If it was so easy to change ourselves, no one would have to suffer from psychological problems, there would be no need for mental health professions, and everyone could attain exactly what they wanted in life.
