There are lots of indicaters showing true gender or at least gender outside the assumed ID.
these indications are as real here as in F2F
Turkle is good reading but try non-cyber writings like
Devito.J: Human Communication. for hidden signs of gender.
Holmes.J: sociolinguistics. to see how we speak gender through how we write.
Reading this stuff is also handy if your intending to change your gender online.
