    I hope you still need the information, and if not... bummer... But,.. you might find it interesting to look at 'presence' and 'social presence'. 'Presence' is becomming a new research area. It's about what things influence the feeling a person has of being part of an intermediated environment. 'Social presence' is the feeling a person has of other people also present in the environment. There's one article that a very nice introduction to 'presence' and I think it is closely related to multimedia experiences. Have a look at it... and if you want more,..
