Sounds about right to me! But to be fair (with gender stereotypes), I've also seen women who are more concerned with the color of the printer than the functioning, and those who buy computers because they are pretty. :-)
Also, a "certain type" of person is more comfortable with the control over both social distance and the "equipment".
