Happy birthday, Hilary!.... In the ideal experiment, you would try to manipulate those two variables: sensation seeking and online/offline to see if the interaction between them affects deviant behavior. I'm not aware of any research on this topic, but studying the trait of sensation seeking certainly is an interesting approach. Traditionally, sensation seeking is defined as the desire to seek out new and stimulating kinds of experiences - usually physical/sensory experiences, like sky-diving or mind altering drugs. While there is definitely a unique sensory component to online experiences, you might also be thinking about sensation-seeking as an attempt to seek out novel emotional/interpersonal experiences, and specifically concerning deviant behavior, as an attempt to act out wishes and needs, perhaps even unconscious wishes and needs.
