To be honest, I find all this about bots profoundly
disturbing. I have some experience with bots on
IRC (including eggdrop, lisa and eliza bots),
and I have seen their pernicious effects on
human social dynamics. This is not to say that
they can't be useful, but their positive use
depends largely on who is controlling or scripting
them, and for what purpose. Power tends to
corrupt, and bots are powerful tools. I have
grave trepedations about bots even as
"agents" used to filter information, thereby
mirroring the filters of our own psyches.
Who will control what information is filtered out?

Let's calmly stand back and consider the potential
dangers before we rush in joyfully to play
with new toys. The huma psyche is much more
    fragile than most people realize.
