MUDS as an environment for personal growth and self-insight requires some skills - like the ability to be self-reflective, to appropriately manage your behavior without inflicting harm on others, and, generally speaking, some psychological maturity. If a person has these skills, then they are well-suited to benefit from a MUD. On the other hand, if people just want to "play" in a MUD, without trying to understand themselves, and maybe by simply acting out - there is nothing wrong with this, as long as no one is being harmed by that play.
