The Netdenizens phenomenon is interesting, Anitah. I'd be interested in hearing more about that. How do these people manage to live 24/7 online. Do they earn a living online? Do they shop only online and socialize only online? In that respect, are they like dotcom guy? "Professor Sherry Turkel of MIT, who wrote "Life on the Screen," has pioneered a clear path. As far as I know, she and I are the only ones who have done this type of research...I seriously urge mental health professionals to become more engaged on the "inside of online communities, rather than simply hypothesize from a safe and abstract distance." Actually, there are quite a few social scientists and mental health professionals who have spend a great deal of time in online communities, and use that participation as a component of their research. In fact, I'm one of them. :-) If you haven't already seen it, Anitah, you might be interested in my online book "The Psychology of Cyberspace" - especially the section on the Palace. The book is based on participant-observation research.
