Funnily enough RD...I showed a video to a science class of 14 yr old students once that was on lightning.
During an electrical storm when the negative ions of electrical energy are trying to find a track to earth itself...streams of positive ions are simultaneously reaching up into the atmosphere to "try" to connect...offer a quick path so to speak. The video showing this very phenomenon was recorded and in the footage I was amazed to see that not only trees and power poles....but humans emit a stream of ions skyward. Of course lightning takes the shortest route...but still don't stand out in a field in an electrical storm :-)......Maybe this is your aura?
