    Internet/Usenet Trolls
    Gerald Miller · 12/15/00 at 2:56 ET

I am curious why some people become "trolls" on the internet? Why may be the psychology behind trolling.

For example; there is a woman who is quite popular on usenet who calls herself Poopie Pants. She calls herself a usenet performance artist and makes some outrageous posts. She also seems to have made up her own language which is a dialect of English.

Sometimes flame wars come about from her posting but most of the time she is quite entertaining.

What is a usenet performace artist? Is there a difference between that and trolling?
