Education of psychology to web designers!!

I am a student at the University of Plymouth, England studying for a degree in Media Lab Arts. As a student who will be placed into the business of web designing I, like many existing designers, lacked the understanding of the psychological fundamentals that are crucial to us.
Reading John's work has given me a new basis for all of my work and I just had to let everyone know how thankful I am.

I am currently in the process of designing my own palace for a final project, which I hope; thanks to this site will be an inspiring way for users to communicate.

Do you believe that I am right in saying that the majority of professional web designers are not in touch with the psychological issues of the web? Design education seems to only get involved with navigational issues and leaves the rest of cyberspace untouched!
