Hi John, Sorry for the delay. Recently the organization that I am working with has expressed and interest in online learning. Although at this point they've not hammered out exactly what kind of training they'd like to offer though the medium. I've seen a variety of online courses that range from straight forward procedure based training to principle based leadership training, and everything in between. I guess that I see potential for online learning to enhance existing learning initiatives, and, perhaps, support ROI considerations. However, serveral companies we have looked at present the notion that their online learning systems are a training replacement. Frankly, this has a certain appeal to companies who are in the position to make the fairly significant up front costs with the aim of reducing future training costs. However "cool" the web might be as a medium, can it be "cool" enough to replace a more traditional learning environment? Is it an environment where behaviours can be significantly influenced? Just at first glance, most of the courses I've looked at so far seem to be very weighted towards the visual learner. Learning preferences are just the tip of the iceberg IMHO. The list of potential pitfalls seems to keep right on going. Is there any literature out there that illustrates the effects of an online on organizational change? I know it sounds like I'm poking around in the dark right now. Well....I am. Thanks, It's early so spelling and grammar .... :-P
