    Yes, virtual communities are coming of age. This period is of transition. Rather a transformation from an information trading community to that which has its own beliefs and norms. An example is the ethics of e mail. This transformation is following the path of storming, norming, forming and institutionalising. Probably you can apply this model and see if it makes sense.
