John, Thank you for your advise and your right wenn you state that values and needs aren't the same. But what I wanted to express is that like needs, the values that people hold affect their initiation of new goal directed activities, the degree of effort that they put into an activity, how long they persist an an activity in the face of alternative activities, the choices they make between alternative activities and how they feel when an activity is undertaken either succesfully or unsuccesfully according to the standards that are set. Both values and needs can therefore be considered as part of the generalclass of motives, that along with other variables, influence motivated action. I my case "the action" for a person for going on the internet. What are the values for a person to go on the internet? What is he or she expecting?
