Just a quick reaction about the fear that creditcard information falls into wrong hands. I think that that fear should be much greater in real-life situations. So why don't people hestitate to give out their creditcards (or creditcardinformation) in real-life transactions? Why isn't the fear equally great in real-life sales transactions? Why do they fear the online-businesses so much more? (BTW I do buy all kind of stuff online myself.)
More often than not (if you're going to make a creditcard transaction) you give your credit card to waiters, sales persons etc. in order to prepair the transaction (make slips etc.). All they need to do is jot down your name, your creditard number and the expirationdate and they can order approximately anything and charge it to your account. To frame someone out of this information when it concerns online transactions is much more work than that.
My guess would be that it has something to do with not being able to see or speak with the person(s) you're dealing with?
