I agree that there may be some clinical issues that are going on in this girl’s inner world and family that would promote her to ingest a poisonous substance. One would want to try to get a handle on what this action is in response to. Is it a protection test in which she would want to know if her family wanted her to live? I agree with Dr. Jay that it needs to examined in the context of her life and culture and dealt with carefully!
