I think the first step would be to conduct a functional analysis of the behaviour. Often these behaviours are linked to reducing anxiety and the distress behaviours may simply be a reaction to not knowing when they can watch the videos again. Maybe setting up a pictorial system to structure their day would be helpful. Establishing a set routine (e.g., watching the videos for a set time at the same time each day)and conditioning them to a certain stimulus (e.g., a picture of their next activity)to prepare them for the video being switched off may also help. The important thing is that the children can predict what is going to happen. Knowing when they can watch the video, how long for, and their next task/activity will help to reduce their anxiety.
