    My point was more about the definitions used by researchers. If what you are researching is not defined then how do you really know what you are researching. Then, if different researchers use different definitions then comparisons are thrown off. If I put forward an hypothesis I have to be able to define what it means and what I choose may be different than what another chooses. I have to be able to clearly show others what characteristics I am using in defining self-esteem and, if I am looking for the relationship between self-esteem and bullying, then, I must clearly show/state the characteristics I am using to define bullying.
