I think that your group will release some deep and perhaps painful memories for your group members. Do you have a plan for this? Is there space in the group for individual work? Are you able (ie. confident and trained and is there enough time) to work therapeutically in the group setting with individuals or is this a group that looks at wider/general issues? The group will need to be aware of how far your group programme will go in terms of their therapeutic needs that could be identified. Perhaps follow up, referral options/advice/information will be required. I liked Monicas advice about focus in the group programme. This helps people to take responsibility for how much they will or will not share/release in a short, time-limited group, and this is something that you need to be clear about in terms of your own capaicty to hold and support group process. Having said all this, good luck! I have run numerous groups in England(and my therapeutic stance, in the main,is Gestalt). Make sure that you have good supervision or consultation as your own process will without doubt need some attention, something group workers always need to be attentive to.
