Searching the web for research purposes
    T · 04/12/01 at 7:22 PM ET

To learn a little more about serious search strategies for doing research on the web, the Library at the University of California at Berkeley has an excellent resource site:

    http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/Help/search.html

Don't stop at that page, also go down to the bottom of the
page and follow the colored category links there, they have some very useful general information about web searching, such as searching the "deep web" or "invisible web" and the difference between different kinds of search engines.

Once you have a handle on the search strategies described there, you will almost always have a way to get the information you need, at least as a first cut.

    Joyous Easter !

    Todd
