Emergency Department Protocol for acute psychosis

Does anyone have a protocol specifically used for acutely psychotic patients presenting to the Emergency Department? We are in a small community hospital and our ER doesn't always do the best with these patients. We do not have a full-time person with any psych background in this department and I believe that if we could give them some stadardization for these patients it would not only benefit the patient but also the staff. We could write the protocol but I thought if anyone already has one it would certainly be nice to have a guideline.
