Exactly so. There's no doubt at all that drugs are very
effective and powerful ways to change people's lives,
often for the better. It's the reliance on them, both
by psychiatry and by patients; and the way it feeds into the existing temptation to deal with difficult cases more out of convenience to their families than in accordance with the standards of patient care.
