    Re: Frustrated Therapist

I would like to thank everyone for their replies. I have considered referring her to another therapist. However, this week when I approached the issue with her, she immediately rejected the idea. I do not want to push this kid out of therapy altogether or otherwise turn her off to the idea. However in this instance, I fear that I am too attached personally. When I say that I ask her questions, I would like to clarify that most often they are not past oriented and likely something like How was your week? There are days when she does not say a word. I agree that there needs to be a certain amount of trust in the theraputic relationship, and I also agree that there has to be a point in which I need to recognize that I cannot help this kid. I am simply having a hard time doing that.
    Thanks
    aather
