I am the director of a private preschool and kindergarten program. A little boy came to us 2 years ago at the age of 3 with some very distrubing behavior problems. He was a very loving child and full of manners but he would enter the room wide open - knocking children down, throwing toys, spitting, hitting, kicking, etc. No matter what we did to control him, he was uncontrolable. I had gotten to the point of removing him from our school. Then one morning he came in almost normal. A little hyper -- but not violet. I question his mother and she said he didn't have milk that morning. This led us to testing for allergies. He was allergic to milk, corn, and some chemicals found in cleaning products. He is in better control of his violet behavior but I still fear that there is a problem. He is in our kindergarten program and is very intellegent, far above normal. He has the vocabulary of a law professor, but he makes no eye contact, interrups often with a statement about a video game he is working on. He insist on being call by the name of the hero in the game or latest movie. He lives in his own world in class, refusing to do his work. Cannot or will not do art work. Yet he knows all the vowel sounds and blends when ask and can add and substract in two languages. He still has times of wild and unacceptable behavior, but not often. His parents feel all this is because of his allgeries. I'm not so sure. I guess my question is this: Is there some disorter that fits. I want this child to be able to function in life. Please give me some insight if you can.
