We live in a world that revere's self esteem. Self esteem is only an opinion which can change from moment to moment. Self Respect comes from within and remains a permanent aspect of our lives. We can have the enjoyment and pleasure that Self Respect commands and exudes. I have a simple recipe which I have shared when I am asked the question, How can I find Self Respect when we live in a world that has no respect for anyone. I answer the question by saying. Self Respect does not come from the outside, it comes from within and belongs to us. Self Respect is not to be found. Self Respect has to be developed.
Recipe for development for Self Respect.
Make a list of all the things you like about yourself. All your positive qualities. This is not an ego trip. The better you feel about yourself and the more you acknowledge your own wonderful qualities, the happier and more loving you will be and the more creative energy will flow, and the greater contribution you will make to the world. Write down all the ways you can think of to be good to yourself, nice things that you can do for yourself, things that are just for your own pleasure and satisfaction. They can be large or small, but make some of them, things that you can easily do every day and then do them. This increases your sense of well-being and satisfaction in life, which in turn helps you come from a clearer space in creating your life. The well adjusted person has some appreciation of their own self-worth and are accepted by those around them. They feel comfortable with other people and are able to respond spontaneously in social situations. At the same they do not feel obligated to subjugate their opinons to those of the group. People can be taught to see alternative pathways by which they can experience what is going on within themselves, as they work to find autonomy within themselves.
