Beth, Your colleague seems to me to be unnecessarily (and foolishly) rigid. There is no evidence at all that 50 mins is optimum. Our group in Oxford has been experimenting with brief treatments (1-5 sessions) with some success. Some of these sessions are longer than usual because of all that we have to fit in.
