I work as an RN in an adolescent program that uses levels. There are 4 levels. Level 1 is the most restrictive. One can work their way up in 8 days to level two and each day there is an increase in privilages. We found that giving privilages in 24 hour increments works best for kids who are on level one. It is fairly complicated...the privilages earned in these 8 days start at getting cards to play with up to being able to walk across to the cafeteria at lunch/dinner. Also there is a point system for catagories such as 'speaking appropriatly', 'behaving responsibly', 'participating' etc for all blocks of time throughout the day and a certain percentage of points are needed to progress along with other expectations. After level one it gets a bit less complicated. If you would like to know more please e-mail me. janetsam@mindspring.com
