I have no idea if your friend has schizophrenia, and I've never been comfortable with the idea of anyone "diagnosing" a mental health problem in one of these forums based on limited information. Symptoms of schizophrenia include: delusions, hallucinations, incoherent speech, catatonic behavior, and disorganization. (For a more complete list, check out: www.psychnet-uk.com/dsm_iv/schizophrenia_disorder.htm) That said, if in fact your friend does have schizophrenia, you should know that there's no known cure, per se. She does have a pretty good shot at getting better, though, IF she gets proper treatment (antipsychotic medications and good psycho-social therapy). Without help, it's anybody's guess. Most likely, it will come and go in phases, becoming more and less severe periodically. If I were you, I wouldn't worry too much about conducting your own diagnosis. If you'd like to do her some good, encourage her to get help.
