Without words for feelings: Patients with this "passive-disconnect" may indeed be alexithymic. However I believe there may be a mix. Some have FEARS of feeling their bodies (molested as children, perhaps), yet have all too much flooding of feeling. Others, perhpas those who were physically abused or neglected as kids over a long stretch, and are dysthymic/avoidant PD/social phobic type cluster - I do see as definitely alexithymic. So an external structure would work well. Part of that being to identify their states of arousal (emotional feelings being a bit much to expect in one month). Follow-up would be a great idea. Let's start a floating program: Oregan in the Summer, Florida in the Winter - or hey, just a nice Carribian island all year round!
