They have a license to prescribe. So that's what they do. Doc's have been taught that there are somatic treatments for every ailment, and that these treatments are the best option available. Therefore, if you have a headache, take an aspirin; if your kid won't behave, give him a pill. This can be very dangerous -- particularly with the ssri's that we really know little about. They haven't been around long enough to know what the long-term effects are.
