To start, this is a very large subject. First you have to define what you want to measure. If you want to measure whether treatment is successful for specific disorders, such as depression, you can opt for scales such as the Hamiliton D (Ham D). Along with that you can have the patient fill out a (Zung) which is a self reporting instrument. You do this pre and post treatment. If you want to look at outcome for the treatment of anxiety, you can use a combination of the WAIS-III, MMPI-2 MCMI-III and the Rorschach. I would suggest having someone on board for administration and intrepretation of these tests. You can also pay to have it electronically scored through an organization called Behaviordyne. Many primary care clinics are going to a warm handoff style of treatment where therapists are hired as a roving clinician. When a mental health issue is identified, the clinician is called into the room to do further assessment and disposition. It is heralded as a wonderful way to save valuable resources. MMC
