I think that your project is needed and admirable. For many years I have been trying to bring the mind and body back together. I think I have found a way to do it. The problem, as always, is ‘the system’. I guess I am in good company as I heard Dr. Braselton say the other day that ‘the whole system needs to be scraped. We need a curriculum that at least starts to address the available information on mind-body linkages. I was recently on a committee that addressed 'violence as a medical issue' and could not even get anyone to listen to my ideas. I offered them to a pediatrician that had developed medical school curriculum and unfortunately seemed not to want any of it, agian, though without even giving me an audience. To start with we all need to pay attention to basic emotion/affect. For starters I don’t care what theory one uses as long as it says there is a direct connection between mind and body and that the information flow is stimulus-feeling-doing. If we know what one is feeling we will know why they are doing it and we can interview at a casual level. Take care. Brian B3393@AOL.COM
Hi,
I envision teaching med students from early on these principles and have many ideas in mind for them and residents. These things take time though , at least several generations of medical students.
