The "use of creative arts in psychotherapy" suggests a supplemental role the arts may play in psychotherapy. The primary meaning making mode is verbal because psychotherapy is traditionally defined as a verbal process. Words are its platform and the creative arts may perform on it, around it, etc. "Art therapy", on the other hand, is its own stage, actors, lighting, etc.
